BROWN DEER (WKOW) -- WISN in Milwaukee reports the Village of Brown Deer will have an independent review of how the Brown Deer Police Department handled encounters with the man responsible for a mass shooting at the Azana Salon and Spa in Brookfield.
Radcliffe Haughton killed three people, including his estranged wife, injured four others and then turned the gun on himself.
Before the shooting, Brown Deer police were called to the Haughton home numerous times. Once was for a domestic violence call that led to a standoff. No arrests were ever made.
Friday, the village manager said they will hire Wisconsin law enforcement instructor Robert C. Willis to conduct an independent review of all contacts police had with the Haughtons. The hire is to get an unbiased evaluation of the police encounters.
The review will be filed in a report with conclusions and recommendations.
