
SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) -- The Sun Prairie football team advanced to the WIAA state semifinals in Division 1 with its 34-6 win over Verona on Saturday. The Cardinal defense forced 6 Wildcat turnovers in a dominate showing at home. Sun Prairie had a 20-0 lead in the 3rd quarter before Verona scored its only touchdown of the game. The Cardinals move on to face Badger in the state semifinals next weekend.
In Division 2, Waunakee extended its winning streak to 47 games, advancing to the state semifinals with its 55-27 victory over Watertown. The Warriors scored the first 28 points of the game, scoring on four straight possessions in the 1st and 2nd quarters. Waunakee moves on to face Whitefish Bay in the state semis.
