UPDATE: Woman found dead at Jefferson motel

JEFFERSON (WKOW) -- Jefferson police continue to investigate a shooting that took place November 5th at the Hilltop Motel in the City of Jefferson.

Upon arriving at the motel, police found Zoey L. Krueger, age 22, deceased on the scene.  An autopsy conducted Tuesday confirmed her death was caused by a gunshot wound.

25-year-old Carl L. Avery was arrested a couple of hours later.  Avery remains in custody at the Jefferson County Jail.

At this time, police have no evidence of any additional suspects involved other than Avery.  There is no threat to surrounding neighbors.  The weapon has been located and is in the possession of law enforcement.

JEFFERSON (WKOW) -- Jefferson police are investigating a fatal shooting at a motel.

Police say they were called to the Hilltop Motel around 5:15 a.m. Monday for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a woman who was already dead.

Officials say they arrested a man in his twenties around 7:45 a.m. They do not believe any other people are involved.

Police say an autopsy will be performed on the woman on Tuesday.

Jefferson police are not releasing any other details while they continue investigating this incident.

JEFFERSON (WKOW) -- Police in Jefferson have responded to a report of a shooting early Monday morning.

Officials are releasing few details at this time, but a representative from the Town of Jefferson confirmed to WISN-TV in Milwaukee that a shooting took place at the Hilltop Hotel, located at 200 E. Truman Street.

Authorities expect to release more information later Monday morning.
