EAU CLAIRE (WKOW) -- Republican Tommy Thompson is trying to become the first former governor of Wisconsin to be elected senator.
During one of his four stops Monday, Thompson toured a manufacturing company in Eau Claire with Governor Scott Walker.
Thompson said his opponent, Democrat Tammy Baldwin, has no record on which to run and that he offers what voters want.
"They want a leader.," Thompson said. "They want somebody that's a reformer. Somebody that can reach across the aisle and work with Democrats and Independents and get the job done."
Thompson said he's optimistic about Tuesday because he said he's seen the excitement of voters on his trips around the state, something Thompson said is not reflected in recent polls that show him trailing Baldwin.
