Madison man arrested inside West Towne Mall

MADISON (WKOW) -- A 21-year-old Madison man is arrested inside West Towne Mall Wednesday morning.

Madison police say a sergeant spotted a Jeep, stolen earlier in the morning from a Sawmill Road home, driving on Gammon Road near Memorial High School.  The sergeant did not attempt to pursuit, as a number of students were in the area, however he did begin to follow the Jeep.

The driver pulled into the parking lot of West Towne Mall and bailed out.  Alert citizens pointed officers in the direction of the suspect.  Jamal S. Jackson was arrested inside the mall for operating a motor vehicle without consent and a parole hold.

Jackson has a long history with the Madison Police Department, including multiple arrests for thefts and burglaries.

The MPD is appreciative of the help received from citizens who were instrumental in getting Jackson off the streets once again.
