OSHKOSH (WKOW) -- The official canvass is underway to determine whether the results in the closest state senate race will stand.
Members of the Winnebago County Board of Canvassers are reviewing the results of Tuesday's election.
Republican Rick Gudex currently leads the Democratic incumbent senator Jessica King by 590 votes.
King is still deciding whether to ask for a recount.
"She'll sit down with her supporters at the proper time when the board of canvassers complete their canvass and we'll make that decision when the time comes. We're sticking with the total of 590 votes. That's what the voters of the 18th senate district have cast and that's seems like real solid number to me," said Brad Wojciechowski of the state senate democratic committee.
If Gudex's victory stands, Republicans will have a 2-seat majority in the Senate.
They'll add another seat in December, when a special election will be held in the 33rd senate district, a Republican stronghold.
