Marquette prepares for Carrier Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WKOW) -- It's not your typical season opener for the Marquette men's basketball team.

On Friday night the Golden Eagles will tip off against No. 4 Ohio State in the annual Carrier Classic.

The game is played in Charleston, S.C., on the deck of the USS Yorktown.

On Thursday, the players had the chance to practice onboard the ship. After practice, Marquette head coach Buzz Williams was asked by a student journalist what it means to be a part of this event.

"You don't have any hair on your back yet because you're young, but it makes the hair your back stand up. Honestly," Williams said. "Regardless of where you're from, regardless of the institution that you're employed at. To have an opportunity to be a part of something like this, I've said it a couple of times before I arrived here, I think it's something our guys will always cherish."
