WAUWATOSA, Wis. (WKOW) -- Waunakee senior Jack Dedrick came up with a key interception to save the game -- and the Warriors' season -- and preserve Waunakee's record-tying winning streak at 48 games.
Waunakee led Whitefish Bay 28-21 in the final minute of Saturday's WIAA Div. 2 state football semifinal. That's when Grant Menard connected with Jackson Weber for the 10-yard touchdown to tie it with 32 seconds remaining, forcing overtime.
Waunakee had the opening possession in overtime and Will Decorah hit Ryan Kruser in the endzone for a 14-yard touchdown.
On Whitefish Bay's chance to respond, Dedrick picked off Menard's pass in the endzone, sealing the victory for Waunakee, 35-28.
