Update: Large marsh fire in the Town of Lake Mills


JEFFERSON COUNTY (WKOW) -- Lake Mills Fire Department officials say the large marsh fire in the Town of Lake Mills is finally out after starting early Sunday morning.

The fire started early this morning and officials estimate over 700 acres have been burned in the fire.


JEFFERSON COUNTY (WKOW) -- A large marsh fire breaks out overnight in the Town of Lake Mills.

According to Jefferson County, the Lake Mills Wildlife property started on fire. There are no injuries reported and people's homes are not at risk.

Dane County Communications says they sent Cambridge, Deerfield and Cottage Grove fire units to the scene.

The Red Cross is supporting local authorities as they fight the marsh fire in the Town of Lake Mills. They sent feeding workers to provide coffee, water and snacks to the firefighters on the scene.
