17-year-old driver collides with motorcycle and takes off


MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison Police say a 46-year-old male was hit while riding his motorcycle on Packers Avenue Saturday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the collision on Packers Avenue and Darwin Road around 3:46 p.m. 

Police said the 46-year-old victim was heading southbound on his motorcycle on Packers Avenue, while a 17-year-old Madison resident was traveling in his vehicle northbound on Packers Avenue and turned left onto Darwin.  The 17-year-old's vehicle collided with the victim's motorcycle after the driver failed to yield.

Authorities said the driver did not stop and continued westbound on Northport Drive.

Police said the victim was transported to the hospital with what appears to be non-life threatening injuries.

Madison Police said the 17-year-old driver returned to the scene over an hour later and he was taken into custody.

Authorities said the 17-year-old driver was charged with failure to render aid.
