MADISON (WKOW) -- The Dane County Board passes the 2013 budget.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports the budget creates a day center for the homeless, replaces old voting machines, and gives municipalities more grants for park improvements.
The budget breaks down to a tax increase on the average Madison home by about $12 a year. It also increases parking fees at the Alliant Energy Center from $6 to $7.
The Wisconsin State Journal says the $491.9 million operating budget and $32.7 million capitol budget leaves the county with a $12 million budget reserve, which is up $1 million from the amount projected for the end of this year, according to the county Department of Administration director Travis Myren.
