King concedes in state Senate race

FOND DU LAC (WKOW) -- The race in the 18th Senate district has been decided.

Democratic incumbent Senator Jessica King conceded the race to Republican challenger Rick Gudex.

Gudex declared victory election night, but King said she wanted to see the official results before conceding.

Gudex had a 590-vote lead when canvassing began. He picked up 9 votes after the official counts in Fond du Lac and Winnebago counties. Dodge County's canvass is Wednesday.

King won the seat in the August 2011 recalls, but Republicans had held that district for 35 years

Gudex said he looks forward to getting to work.
