Parisi signs 2013 budget on Thursday - WKOW 27: Madison, WI Breaking News, Weather and Sports

MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County Executive Joe Parisi signed the 2013 County Budget on Thursday, saying it will build partnerships and provide new investments to address challenges.

With a spending plan of about $564 million, Parisi says the 2013 budget will make large investments in enhancing public safety and improving quality of life.

The budget invests about $243 million into human services to prevent child abuse and neglect, while putting about $2 million towards those who struggle with disabilities.

"At the end of the day, the safety net for people who are vulnerable is something that I am committed to keeping intact," Parisi said.

Parisi says they continue to meet the needs of people in challenging situations, but in a climate of reduced resources.
