1 teen killed, 2 injured in early morning crash in Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC (WKOW) -- The Fond du Lac Police and Fire departments were called to a one-vehicle crash shortly before 3:00 a.m.

Upon investigation, it appears the car was traveling southbound when it crossed the center line, left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The driver, 18-year-old Gilberto Castaneda-Bobadilla, from the Eden area, needed extrication from the vehicle and was taken from the scene by Flight for Life to Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah with life-threatening injuries.

One of the passengers, 17-year-old Giovanni M. Clouse, from Dotyville, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Another passenger, 17-year-old Alex W. Schultz, from Campbellsport, was transported to St. Agnes Hospital with critical injuries.

Campbellsport High School officials were notified of the accident as both Clouse and Schultz are students there.

The roadway, where the accident occurred, was closed to traffic until approximately 9:00 a.m. as the Fond du Lac Police Department investigators and members of the Wisconsin State Patrol Accident Reconstruction team completed their preliminary investigation.  The cause and circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
