Red Kettle bell ringer going for record

Posted:

MARSHFIELD (WKOW) -- A bell ringer in Marshfield is going above and beyond the normal volunteer's shift.

The typical shift is 2 hours.

Timm Mews is going for 52 straight hours.

The current record is 51 hours.

He started at 6 p.m. Thursday and he says it's been harder than he thought.

"Actually, I got pretty tired, probably about one to three. I really struggled, and thank goodness the employees and staff of Festival Foods were kind enough to come and check on me and you know, cheer me on and keep me awake."

If Mews makes it to his 52-hour goal, he'll be finished at 10 p.m. Saturday.
