VILAS COUNTY (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker took to the woods Tuesday morning looking to bag a buck.
He headed out to Vilas County. So far this year, Walker hasn't had much luck in the woods.
Last year, Walker hired a deer czar in an effort to improve the deer population by listening to what hunters have to say.
"They can give us a sense of what they're seeing and hearing in the woods and allow us to adapt things so the management of the harvest is done effectively in a way that's both biologically sound but provides a good hunt and experience for people," Walker said.
The governor says he plans to head out again this weekend as the season comes to a close.
