Bear harvest is second highest on record

MADISON (WKOW) -- The gun deer hunt continues this coming weekend in Wisconsin. Meanwhile, officials in Wisconsin say, this year's bear harvest was the second-highest on record.

State officials say hunters registered 4,400 black bears during the 2012 season. That's only second to the 2010 total. Bear hunters have until midnight on December 10, 2012 to apply for a harvest permit for next year's hunting season.
