Off-duty firefighter helps battery victim


MADISON (WKOW) -- Police search for a suspect after a battery. An off-duty firefighter helps the female battery victim.

The incident happened on the 100 block of East Johnson Street about 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The female victim was walking home when she was grabbed from behind by the suspect. The victim fell to the ground and the suspect started beating her in the face and head.

An off-duty firefighter saw the attack and came to her rescue. The firefighter punched the suspect in the face and he then ran off. The female victim sustained several lacerations to the back of her hand.

Madison police say they're looking for a white male, in his late 20's to early 30's. Police say the suspect has blonde hair and weighs 200 pounds. The suspect was wearing a dark hoodie or coat and a red flannel shirt underneath.
