MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison's Central Business Improvement District promoted local business on Saturday through its Downtown Madison Holiday Open House.
The open house was from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, along State Street and Capitol Square.
Customers at participating business received special offers and complimentary refreshments.
The owners at "Anthology" on State Street say they've seen a steady flow of business over the holiday weekend, and that they've been working all year to make sure the store is ready for the holiday shopping season.
"For us it's really the last 12 days before Christmas that is really the busiest time of the year," said co-owner Laura Komai. "So this is the start of the season for us, but it's just the first step."
Saturday's Downtown Madison Holiday Open House coincides with the nationwide Small Business Saturday, created by American Express.
The Holiday Trolley was offering free rides on State Street and Capitol Square during the open house and will continue to run on December 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
