Teens arrested after a fight was posted on Facebook

MADISON (WKOW) -- Two Madison teens were arrested for battery after a fight, involving many young men, was posted on Facebook.

The Madison Police Department says the video posted on Facebook shows a two and a half minute fist fight taking place in the 1900 block of Baird Street on Monday, November 19. Officials say the video shows teens fighting, one-on-one, in the middle of the street.

Officials say the video shows a 13-year old having his head slammed onto pavement several times. He later told police that he may have, momentarily, lost consciousness.

The fight was not reported to police at the time it was happening; however, police say it appears some adults knew of, or witnessed the violence. Investigators were told about the video on Wednesday, November 21.

Police arrested a 14-year old suspect that Wednesday for Battery and Disorderly Conduct. A 13-year old suspect was taken into custody Monday afternoon for two counts of Battery and one count of Disorderly Conduct.

There were no reported serious injuries.

Police say it is not clear, based on talking with the teens, whether this was gang related; however, several questioned mentioned an ongoing conflict between some involved.
