MADISON (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker is crediting technology and innovation as reasons for the state's strong dairy industry.
Walker spoke at a Wisconsin Dairy Business Association conference on Tuesday in Madison.
The focus of Walker's speech was an aggressive plan to increase Wisconsin's dairy production through government support.
"Big farms, small farms and everywhere in between, we need to do more to make it easier to increase milk production, to increase dairy production here in the state of Wisconsin," Walker said.
Walker said it's not just about the industry or the economy for most farmers, but a way of life.
After the speech Walker headed to Green Bay for the first stop on a tour of Wisconsin to talk with people as he prepares the next state budget. He's hoping to get ideas of what the people want to see prioritized.
