$13M tax credit helping Nob Hill apartment project

MADISON( WKOW) -- A $13 million tax credit is helping to pay for a big low income apartment renovation in Madison.

Tuesday night, the Common Council voted to approve the Nob Hill project on the city's south side.

Mayor Paul Soglin says the tax credit is making it possible to renovate and still keep rent prices affordable.

"This allows these units, over 240 of them, to be fixed up, modernized, and it does not create gentrification."

The $30 million Nob Hill apartment project will also include some new services in the complex, including computer labs for kids who don't have access to a computer in their home.
