FOND DU LAC (WKOW) -- A Fond du Lac woman is sentenced to 14 years in prison after trying to kill her young daughter in her own suicide attempt.
The Reporter in Fond du Lac reports Kenna M. Bowe, 26, burst into tears when she heard the sentence Thursday. Bowe had pleaded no contest to Attempted First degree Intentional Homicide.
Prosecutors say she gave her 6-year-old daughter 12 sleeping pills, then took medication herself. The criminal complaint says Bowe tried to kill her daughter because she didn't want her to think Bowe's suicide was her fault, and didn't want to leave her behind.
Defense attorney Mary Wolfe says Bowe had been persevering through mental-health issues but things unfortunately fell apart.
