MADISON (WKOW) -- The public can help raise money for abused and neglected children this weekend by decorating gingerbread houses.
Dane County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is holding the fourth annual Gingerbread CASAs for CASA event on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days at Hilldale Mall.
The event is free and open to the public. Opportunities to be a sponsor for this event, decorate a house in the contest, and/or volunteer are available.
On Saturday, there will be a gingerbread house decorating contest. Local artists, confectioners, architects, and other creative gingerbread enthusiasts will compete in the live gingerbread house decorating contest.
Throughout Saturday's contest, kids of all ages are invited to visit the CASA "Gingerbread Factory", where attendees can purchase and decorate a gingerbread cookie.
On Sunday, the "Gingerbread Factory" will be open for more cookie decorating and the decorated gingerbread houses from Saturday's contest will be on display.
The event will benefit Dane County CASA. The independent non-profit organization provides trained volunteers to children who are under the protections of the Dane County courts because of abuse and neglect.
