Folks around Capitol Square at lunchtime Saturday saw something extremely out of the ordinary, as hundreds ran around the square in their swimsuits.
They were taking part in the inaugural Madison Santa Swimsuit Run in temperatures unseasonably warm for December 1 in Madison.
The brief run started at noon and lasted less than thirty minutes.
During the run, participants stopped at four intersections to do exercises or sing Christmas carols. The run was led by Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
The goal was to raise $50,000 for Run Strong Wisconsin and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
