GREEN BAY (WKOW) -- A Green Bay lawmaker wants all the political robocalls banned.
Democratic state Sen. Dave Hansen says he's drafting legislation to ban political robocalls in Wisconsin. He says he wants to end the calls that he says don't even make a difference in changing voters' minds.
A Green Bay Press-Gazette report says political robocalls aren't restricted under state and national Do Not Call registries the way telemarketing calls are. So even if you request that your name be removed from a political call list, campaigns aren't required to comply.
Michael Kraft, a political science professor at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, says he's not sure a ban would ever work, in part because campaign strategists seem to believe robocalls are effective.
