MADISON (WKOW) -- A 12-year holiday tradition continued Sunday as police officers from across Dane County got together to help some local kids through the "Shop With a Cop" program.
The officers met at the Target store on Madison's east side and helped bring some holiday spirit to disadvantaged children in the Dane County area.
"They go through and have a list of gifts they can buy for their family, some ideas that they have for themselves," said Dane County Sheriff's Office detective Kathy Wessel. "And then they and the officer select the items."
Officers say it's a great way to show kids law enforcement is there to help them.
Officers and deputies from eight area departments helped young shoppers on Sunday.
