MADISON (WKOW) -- Badger fans wasted no time grabbing up tickets to the Rose Bowl. Tickets went on sale to the general public Monday morning and the Wisconsin Athletic Ticket Office was busy most of the day.
27 News caught up with a few fans who were in line early. Jerry Fuller has been a Badger fan since 1952, when he started college at UW-Madison. He never expected by halftime of the Big Ten Championship game, he'd be making his plans for Pasadena. "It was so over the top, it was not at all what I expected. I was worried about the game."
Jerry bought two tickets Monday and said whoever gave him the best offer would get the other one. He had already planned on going to the Rose Bowl if Wisconsin won. "As soon as they were way out there, we said, well we're going. "We went last year, and the year before and in '94."
Barbara Page went last year and in '94 too. She's hoping for a more '94-like outcome and says the game against Nebraska gave her hope. "Shock after the first two touchdowns and the rest of the game. And just watching the coach from Nebraska and the look on his face was priceless."
Barbara works at UW's law school, but of course they let her leave for just a little while for something this important. "I tried calling and online and I couldn't get through."
The ticket office was busy most of the day as Badger fans made their plans. Now it's up to the team to come home with that Rose Bowl trophy. Hopefully seeing all that red - not cardinal - in Pasadena will give Wisconsin the boost it needs to top Stanford.
