UPDATE: Bielema introduced as new Razorbacks coach

Posted:

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (WKOW) -- The former head coach of the Badger football team, Bret Bielema, was introduced at his new university Wednesday.

During a news conference, Bielema said he left a great place at Wisconsin but he wanted to spread his wings a bit further and take on a new challenge.

"I left a place that gave me my first opportunity as a  head coach," said Bielema. "One of the things I really believe in as a head coach is if you can leave the place in a better place than where you were, you should feel good. And we gave 'em three straight Big Ten Championships - never been done before. I would love to just say thanks to Coach Alvarez, my AD, who gave me a lot of guidance."

Bielema will receive $3.2 million annually over six years with incentives worth an extra $700,000, which puts him in the top ten highest paid coaches in college football. Click here to see his contract offer.

The 42-year-old was 68-24 in seven seasons as Wisconsin's head coach.

Bielema wouldn't speculate on who the Badgers might pick as their new head coach.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (WKOW) -- Bret Bielema will be introduced as Arkansas' head football coach Wednesday afternoon in Fayetteville.

The ABC station in the Fort Smith-Fayetteville market says Bielema is expected to be at the news conference, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. The university will stream the news conference live on its website.

Bielema announced Tuesday he was leaving the Wisconsin Badgers for the head coaching job at Arkansas. Wisconsin's season isn't over though. The Badgers still have the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day and several players told 27 News Tuesday night Bielema would not coach them.
