Friends hope local girl with cancer can meet Justin Bieber

MADISON (WKOW) -- A social media campaign that aims to help a local teen with cancer meet Justin Bieber is gaining momentum on the internet.

Their video on YouTube has more than 24,000 views, Facebook page has more than 7,000 likes and #biebsmeetaly has exploded on Twitter.

"It's kind of hard to have a bad day when you have all of this going on," 19-year-old Aly Wolff said. The McFarland native has Neuroendocrine cancer, which is rare. She was diagnosed after her freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-OshKosh. Before a liver transplant scheduled for later that summer, doctors told her the cancer had spread."Now we're going to the UW and doing some clinical research trials," she said.

Wolff's friends, Ariel Arneson and Katie Broadway, have taken charge of the #biebsmeetaly campaign. They came up with the idea just before a Bieber concert they attended in Milwaukee with Wolff earlier this year. Though she didn't meet the superstar, Arneson and Broadway decided to try again. "This can actually happen for Aly," Broadway said about their second try.

Support has flooded in from across the country. Family, friends, strangers and celebrities have pushed for the teen to meet her favorite singer. "It's just getting huge," Arneson said. The two hope Aly can meet with Justin Bieber at his Dec. 15 concert in Chicago or when he's on the Ellen Show late next week.
