MADISON (WKOW) -- There were two things to commemorate Friday at the Wisconsin Veterans Home.
First, Governor Scott Walker thanked Pearl Harbor survivors for their service as part of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day.
But officials at the Veterans Home were also thanking the governor.
In his upcoming budget, Walker is including funding for 25 new full-time registered nurses and almost 60 certified nurse assistant positions at the facility.
"For us to be able to provide not just good care, but some of the best care possible is incredibly important not just for today's veterans, but for those coming back from service to know someday when they need it, it will be there too," says Walker.
The facility has the capacity to house 721 people.
Right now, 700 veterans live there.
