WHITEWATER (WKOW) -- Drug deaths are rising steadily in Wisconsin, according to the results of a study out of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater.
Researcher David Nordstrom says he looked at nearly 5,000 drug-related Wisconsin deaths from 1999 through 2008.
He found prescription drug deaths now outnumber those from illegal drugs, and he recommends a prescription drug monitoring program to keep people from getting pain pills from multiple pharmacies.
