MADISON (WKOW) -- Three young teens were arrested Friday night after an armed robbery at Walgreens on S. Whitney Way.
The manager of the store attempted to stop them from stealing candy and condoms. He says he initially saw the 13-year-olds stuffing candy in their pockets.
He told them they didn't need to get in trouble over this and they should just put the candy back.
The boys then set off the security alarm as they left. The manager followed them into the parking lot, again asking they return the items not paid for or he would have to contact the police.
He says at least two of the suspects, maybe all three, showed knives as one then threw a $15 package of condoms at him.
The manager was disturbed and frightened, but contacted authorities. The three teens got onto a bus at the nearby West Transfer Point, at which time they were arrested before the bus pulled away.
Three knives were recovered, and some candy found on the bus.
All three boys are from Madison. They were taken to the Juvenile Reception Center on tentative charges of armed robbery, retail theft, carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct while armed, and intimidation of victim.
