PLATTEVILLE (WKOW) -- Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 3:30, the Grant County Communications Center received a report of a two vehicle crash near the intersection of Highway 151 and County Highway O.
31-year-old Courtney Yuskis, of Des Moines, Iowa, was traveling southbound on Highway 151 when the driver of a pickup pulled onto 151 from County Highway O. Yuskis struck the pickup in the driver's side door, causing the truck to roll onto its side in the median.
Immediately after the crash, three concerned citizens stopped to assist the driver of the pickup. One of the citizens is a Cuba City Volunteer Firefighter.
The three tried to free the driver from the truck by removing the windshield. As they attempted, the truck caught fire, therefore they were unable to remove the driver.
Yuskis was transported with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Grant County Coroner.
Both occupants were wearing seatbelts and alcohol or speed is not considered to be a contributing factor.
The name of the deceased is not being released until an autopsy and positive identification of the driver is complete.
The incident remains under investigation.
