MADISON (WKOW) -- UW-Madison graduate and former athletic director Pat Richter was on campus Sunday, to deliver the charge to graduates at the university's winter commencement ceremony.
Richter is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame. During the ceremony, he talked about playing in the 1963 Rose Bowl.
"50 years ago to the day we were practicing football and getting ready to go to Pasadena, California to play in the 1963 Rose Bowl, likewise [Sunday] our Badger football team is preparing to head out to Pasadena for the 2013 Rose Bowl," says Richter.
Richter said the game taught him perseverance and professionalism in life, something he hopes the recent grads will take with them as they leave UW.
Richter graduated from the UW in 1964 and started with the athletic department in 1989.
