UPDATE: Janesville man sentenced for killing girlfriend

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- 37-year-old Michael R. Paul, of Janesville, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison and 12 years extended supervision for the death of his girlfriend.

Paul was charged with first degree reckless homicide and hiding a corpse.  Court records show Paul pleaded guilty to the first count in September; the second count was dismissed.

Janesville Police found the body of Lisa Schaefer, 49, in the basement of her home. Investigators say Paul killed her, then stored her body under a stairwell.

JANESVILLE (WKOW)-- A Janesville man is scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday in the death of his girlfriend.

Michael R. Paul, 37, was charged with First Degree Reckless Homicide and Hiding a Corpse. Court records show in September, Paul pleaded guilty to the first count and the second was dismissed.

His sentencing is set for Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Rock County Circuit Court.
