MADISON (WKOW) -- Local schools will be getting a big treat from The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. The museum is set to share some of its work with local schools in Dane County.
The museum is bringing art from its permanent collection to nine public elementary and middle schools. A different exhibition will travel from school to school and be displayed for one month through 2015.
The first one is called "What's Going on Here? Stories in Art" and it starts circulating in January. The art is from state, regionally and nationally known artists, including Tom Uttech, Red Grooms and John Buck.
More than 8,000 students participated in a similar program in 2004 and 2005, when the museum was closed for construction. The museum was able to relaunch the program because of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
