UPDATE: Power outages in Madison

MADISON (WKOW) -- Here's the latest update from Madison Gas & Electric as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday:

  • Storm conditions continue to worsen.
  • MGE crews and extra help are working into the evening but restoration under these extreme conditions is more difficult and takes more time than usual. Emergency crews will work all night long.
  • If you are now without power or you lose power, you should expect that you will continue to be without power at least through the night and likely longer.
  • Your safety is paramount. If these conditions warrant, you should seek other arrangements such as friends, family or hotels. You also should reach out to others you know who may need help.

MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison gas and electric is now reporting a major power outage in Madison, near Glenway Golf Course. More than 1,500 people were impacted by this outage, as of 10:55 a.m.

The utility company also reports several smaller outages in the the city.
