Travel discouraged Thursday night

MADISON (WKOW) -- 27 StormTrack chief meteorologist Bob Lindmeier is advising against travel Thursday night, as strong winds will be blowing the day's snow into drifts.

In Grant County, officials announced late this afternoon that despite extensive plowing efforts, road conditions continue to deteriorate there due to increased wind and snow drifting.

They says roads, including state highways, throughout Grant County are treacherous and many will remain impassible overnight, and they discourage any road travel.

Plows on most Grant County roads will cease plowing at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday and resume at 4:00 a.m.  Plowing on State Highway 18 and Highway 151 will continue throughout the night.

Elsewhere, Iowa County officials are advising against driving on secondary roads, many of which are said to be impassable.
