MADISON (WKOW) -- UW Hospital and Clinics has purchased Best Western InnTowner Hotel to provide a new patient and family centered resource for regional patients.
Fiore Cos. of Madison, the current owner of the hotel, will remain the employer and be involved as a co-manager of hotel operations through the third-party management company that currently manages the hotel.
After a thorough strategic review, the hospital concluded the hotel will offer a valuable new option for regional patients and their families to help ensure they receive the right care and services in the right setting for their needs.
Patients expected to use the service will include those arriving the day before a scheduled procedures or treatment, those who need to be in close proximity for extended treatments and those specialty patients who are ready to be discharged from inpatient care but need to remain in close proximity for post-discharge lab work and monitoring.
The hotel will also offer a more comfortable environment for extended discharge care and education.
The hospital's aim, consistent with the new demands of health care reform and UW Health's mission of providing the best possible patient care experience and outcomes, is to help ease the transition home for patients with complex needs and help reduce complications and unnecessary hospital readmissions.
UW Hospital and Clinics will continue its existing relationships with other Madison hotels and will continue to arrange accommodations for patients and families throughout the area.
