UPDATE: Police honor fallen officer Jennifer Sebena

WAUWATOSA (WKOW) -- Police officers from across Wisconsin came to the Saturday funeral of fallen Wauwatosa police officer Jennifer Sebena.

An American flag was draped across her casket as it was carried into Elmbrook Church for the morning visitation. The funeral followed directly.

Even those who didn't know Officer Sebena say they still feel a special bond.

"We're all one big family. It's kind of a brotherhood, sisterhood. So we're all here and we all hurt a little bit every time this happens," said Sgt. Kris Martin with the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, who attended the service.

And across Wisconsin, the American and Wisconsin state flags were lowered to half staff on Saturday in honor of Sebena, as well as recently deceased Brooklyn Fire Chief Phil Mortensen.

Investigators say Officer Sebena's husband, Ben, confessed to shooting and killing her outside the Wauwatosa Fire Department, while she was on duty Christmas Eve.

WAUWATOSA (WKOW) -- Officer Jennifer Sebena will be laid to rest on Saturday.

Governor Scott Walker has ordered that beginning at sunrise and ending at sunset, flags will be at half-staff as a mark of respect for Officer Sebena.

The visitation will be at Elmbrook Church on the 700 block of South Barker Road in Brookfield. The visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the funeral will start around 12:00 p.m.

WISN in Milwaukee reports about 500 vehicles and hundreds of law enforcement departments are expected to attend the ceremony.

According to the criminal complaint, Ben Sebena, Jennifer's husband, says he shot his wife, twice with his handgun and three more times with her service handgun Christmas Eve morning.

Also in the complaint, a co-worker says Officer Sebena confided that three weeks ago her husband held a gun to her head in a domestic violence incident.

Ben appeared in a Milwaukee County courtroom Thursday afternoon with extra security around him.

He's charged with first degree intentional homicide and bail is set at $1-million cash.
