
LA CROSSE (WKOW) -- A cross-country skier is in the hospital after breaking through the ice on the Mississippi River.
The La Crosse Tribune says the man was skiing from La Crosse to Galesville when he became submerged Tuesday afternoon. It was a La Crosse Tribune reporter who found the man after he managed to crawl out of the hole about 30 feet from shore.
First responders took the man to Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.
