House delays vote on Superstorm Sandy aid

Posted:

WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- The House is taking heat for not approving aid for victims of Superstorm Sandy.

House Speaker John Boehner canceled a vote on the money Tuesday night.

Many residents on the east coast were furious when they heard the news.

76-year-old Frank Gissi was able to return to his home on Staten Island just this week.

"I cried for two weeks when I lost this house. If I could cry again, I will cry again. I have no use for them in Washington. I have friends on the block who lost more than me and they are living in shelters."

The House has scheduled a vote Friday on $9 billion in flood insurance.

They'll vote again on January 15 for the remaining $51 billion in the package.
