Snowmobile riders reminded to stay on designated trails
MADISON (WKOW) -- Snowmobiles have hit the trails hard since the large snowfall in December, but not all of the riders are following the rules.
Tammy Sobojinski, the secretary and treasurer for the Winfiend Wild Cats snowmobile club in Sauk County, is worried those riders who aren't following the rules could ruin it for the rest.
The vast majority of snowmobile trails are on private land and are marked very clearly so riders don't stray from the designated trail. Sobojinski says the problem is a lot of riders are driving off the trails and ruining crops on private landowners' land.
Sobojinski says a landowner can decide not to let the trails run through their land if they want, so it could cause snowmobile clubs to set up detours.
Sobojinski joins us on 27 News at 5 on Thursday to talk about the rules and safety on the trails.
