Green Co. teen arrested in sexual assault of child

TOWN OF CLARNO (WKOW) -- Deputies have arrested a teenager in a sexual assault investigation.

The Green County Sheriff's office says early Sunday morning, they responded to a complaint of a sexual assault in the N2300 block of Bloom Lane in the Town of Clarno. After an investigation, they arrested Michael P. Gifford, 17, of Monroe.

Gifford was arrested on tentative charges of Repeated Sexual Assault of a Child, Physical Abuse of a Child, Battery, First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and Second Degree Sexual Assault by Use of Violence.

Green County authorities say the crimes took place over a period of recent months.

Gifford is in the Green County Jail pending a court appearance.
