Gabrielle Giffords launches initiative aimed at curbing gun violence

PHOENIX (AP) -- Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband launch a new initiative aimed at curbing gun violence.

In an exclusive interview with ABC's Diane Sawyer, Giffords and Mark Kelley talk about the initiative, called "Americans for Responsible Solutions." They launched a website Tuesday.

Giffords says their initiative would help raise money to support greater gun control efforts.

Giffords and Kelly visited Newtown, Connecticut last week, where the mass shooting took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, killing dozens of students and teachers. Giffords herself was injured in a mass shooting exactly two years ago in Tucson, Arizona, when a gunman opened fire on a crowd gathered for a meet-and-greet with her.
