Police name fourth suspect in Montee Ball attack

MADISON (WKOW) -- A Madison police official says a fugitive in a battery case is also wanted for questioning about his possible role in last summer's attack on Badger football star Montee Ball.

Madison police detective Dave Gouran tells 27 News that Karlis Griffin of Madison is a suspected attacker. Ball was punched and kicked by several men as he walked home on University Avenue at bar time Aug. 1, 2012.
Court records show an arrest warrant was issued for 27-year old Griffin last October in a separate case involving battery and disorderly conduct.
Two UW-Madison students - Wendell Venerable and Robert Wilks -- have been found responsible for their roles in the attack on the Badger player, and were placed in a deferred prosecution program.
Next week, a third UW-Madison student, Deonte Wilson, 21, is expected to enter a plea of guilty or no contest in connection with the attack.
Ball suffered a concussion and other injuries in the attack and missed several pre-season practices, but no games. Authorities say the attack was retaliation for a previous fight involving Venerable and Badger football players, but not Ball.
