MILWAUKEE (WKOW) -- A serious outbreak of influenza has been especially bad in the Milwaukee area, where emergency departments are being inundated with three times as many patients as in recent flu seasons.
Some hospitals have even had to divert incoming ambulances to other hospitals.
Health officials say this season has the potential to be one of the more severe in recent years.
Health officials say a couple of deaths statewide are under investigation as possibly being flu-related.
They say the most effective way to protect yourself is to get a flu shot.
