MADISON (WKOW) -- The Dane County Sheriff's Department releases the 911 call and audio from dispatchers when Paul Heenan was killed.
It all happened in the middle of the night around 2:45 a.m. on November 9, 2012. Kevin O'Malley's wife, Megan, was awake nursing her child on the second floor of her home. After hearing the family dog barking she woke up her husband.
Megan asked Kevin if he needed her to call 911 and he said no, and nothing further. Megan did call 911 and police arrived on the scene.
There were 15 seconds between when Officer Stephen Heimsness ordered Heenan to get down and when he fired his gun.
Heimsness got out his weapon, which police say was in accord with police policy in a burglary-type situation.
