Copper stolen from vacant homes in Milton

MILTON (WKOW) -- Police in Milton are investigating the recent theft of copper from two vacant homes.

Lt. John Conger says the burglaries happened to a home on W. Elizabeth and another in the 900 block of Hilltop Drive. Conger says the department is unsure when the crimes took place, but it is believed they were committed between January 5 and January 6.

Police are asking owners of vacant homes, realtors and people who live near vacant homes to be extra vigilant in securing the properties. They're also asking neighbors to report any suspicious behavior at such homes.

Anyone with information regarding the crimes is asked to call the Milton Police Department at 757-2244 or Janesville Area Crimestoppers at 756-3636.  Anonymous tips can also be sent via text to CRIMES (274637), then enter JACS, plus your message.
